CDC Gillingham - Olfa Knives
Don't know if anyone is from around the Gillingham (Kent) area or working in that area on Thursday 17th November.

Pop along to Crown dec centre on Gillingham Business Park to see Lee Andrews from Olfa doing a demo for those that haven't tried the Olfa blades yet.
You can see what the blades capabilities are while eating a bacon buttie & a cuppa tea. There will be freebies and T-shirts given away.

Starts at 9am and lasts all day.

hysterical

Ive never been Gillingham but I do like to give my nearest cdc stick from time to time, they deserve it

my mates got a snack van which he parks in the ddc carpark and he is in the direct line of fire between ddc and cdc, so when Im over that way i go aand see him, I always go in the ddc and ask them for their best prices on various prroducts only to be told that they know me of old and they are not in the process of giving stuff away to deccies who wont buy of them anyway. its all lighthearted as they remember me from the mcdougal rose days when did use them regular. so I thought I would give the cdc some stick while i was there and walked in asking them why they kept putting their prices up and didnt sell what I want anyway, all lighthearted, manager comes out

hiya mike . long time no see , come this way

into the stock room, this is stock I inherited from the old manager and wont shift with the deccies we have coming in here. so we are in negotation now. a lot of it I dont want but I may have to take it as part of the deal to get what I do want. theres an awfull lot of sikkens but it is all odds , so really it depends on price and tbh as I said to him he would be better off putting it in a bin in the shop, some owatrol stuff , ratcliffes I deffo want, lincrusta glue, probably not as i dont know another use for it and the client would pay for the glue along with the lincrusta

serves me right for opening my big gobNodyes

I know nothing I havent learnt

RE: CDC Gillingham - Olfa Knives
Had a nice bacon buttie and a good chat with the Olfa Rep.

Don't know if you know... Olfa have a new smaller blade box coming out in January and it's easier to snap a blade with.

I was impressed with the 9mm & 18mm knife that holds six blades and you pull the blade out from the front and the new one slots in place.
Got given a couple of brushes, one was the sash brush the other was the 1.5" Axus synthetic brush. Looks and feels a bit like a Purdy, but I won't be taken away from my Woosters now.

Got some more of the sample tape that Bertie kindly gave PPS members. It's made from rice paper.
Good really, once you remove it you can save on waste and eat the damn stuff with sherbet.

ha ha haaaa so I did have something to eat in my car whilst waiting for the AA
new blade box is a wash out i saw it myself and not to the amusment of a few people,i saw the fault in it. the snapped blades drop out the box when shaken. and not even vigousley.so its not safe .
If theres babies in the house and they see them on the floor there going in their mouth !!
The new blade with instant refill although a little bit heavier the problem i for see with it is the blades getting stuck! i like the idea though... sorry dunno

I follow my instinct not fashion.......

Right then, returning to snapping the blades back into the the black container the blades come in anyway.
Anyone else seen or heard of the flaw on the new blade box?

RE: CDC Gillingham - Olfa Knives
did they just have one on show? did it have a screw like the current one? it could be that the screw wasnt tightened enough, ive never had any probs with the current one - I often wear it round my neck at work like my darling friend WDW - got Olfa in on Tuesday I will inspect with my Bertie eye, i'll do drop & throw tests with it and report back - it wouldnt even be a prototype as they would be in Japan, so maybe the reps just didnt assemble it back together correctly if they were in a hurry.

The old style yellow box has the screw which often comes loose and gets lost. The new one is black and doesn't have a screw. I shall see if Lee Andrews, who came to my local CDC demoing Olfa has heard of this issue. Hopefully, Manul (sorry for spelling of his name) may come in and address this point Thumbsup

Yep the little black box, the one guy "indian" tried to bring another one out and with big smile said no this one is the newer model but the same happened, WdW1 said "feedback" headwall

RE: CDC Gillingham - Olfa Knives
Hi All,

First things first, HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!! good2
Hope you're all looking forward to a great year (and it will be!)

Let's address all of the above:

The blade box, DC-5, that Lee had IS ONLY A PROTOTYPE , and the final version is not even available yet. OLFA actually send test versions out worldwide before putting it out into the market - everything is tried and tested in several countries.

We only have a handful of them that were created. The final version will probably be available to buy in the Spring.

When it is available, the top lid should have a stiffer spring and will not open too easily. The case is designed to be more convenient than the DC-4, being smaller and with pocket/belt clip. There is also no screw on for convenience's sake, but there is a front flap which closes and locks the lid into place, which should be used when the case is not being used. This is not something a baby could open.

Since Lee was probably continuously demonstrating, he probably left the front flap down, which you wouldn't normally do. Anyhow, wait till the final version is available and you will hopefully be pleased.

Chris - the PA-2 (knife that holds multiple blades) will not jam up on you. If it does, we'll replace it for you.

Hope I have cleared things up!
