varnishing broken colour
I am having trouble applying varnish to broken colour work.
i have used polyvine glaze & tints as usual- all acrylic. when i try to put the dead flat varnish on, it is taking the colour off!
never had this problem before. Any ideas??headwall

RE: varnishing broken colour
the varnish is reactivating the acrylics

I have always sealed the acrylics in with oil glaze, the downside being the slight yellow tone and yellowing in low light areas
which varnish are you using

I know nothing I havent learnt

RE: varnishing broken colour
I dont know the answer as I have always bound in any acrylic /waterbased effect with oil, its old school but it was the way I was taught

with acrylics the base needs to go off thoroughly before overcoating

I know nothing I havent learnt
